Teen Service Adventures
Teen service adventures are a way for teenagers to serve others in communities both here in the United States and around the world. For those not familiar with this type of community service, teen service adventures are programs, usually in the form of trips, often to another country or state, where teens can serve others in some way.
Adventures Cross-Country organizes Teen Community Service programs in the United States and around the world. The company offers community service programs in California, Hawaii, Africa (Kenya & Tanzania), Australia, Fiji, China, Tibet, Costa Rica, Ecuador (including the Galapagos), Egypt, Spain, Morocco and Thailand. Students on these programs generally spend 40 to 80 hours working on community service projects, but also spend time doing other activities such as SCUBA diving, surfing, rafting, sailing and going on safari.
Teen service adventures can be great fun, but often include hard work. Most Adventures Cross-Country programs have three types of service sections: construction, teaching and animals. The construction projects can often be quite physical. The teaching and animal community service sections are a bit less physical, but often more demanding mentally.
The types of services performed will vary from trip to trip. On some programs, we work in soup kitchens, partner with Habitat for Humanity, build homes, build bridges, build schools, etc. On some community service programs we work in orphanages and teach in schools. On other teen service programs we work with animals and wildlife.
